All BHWC members are also members of the General Federation of Women’s Clubs, founded in 1890, with gorgeous headquarters in Washington DC. All BHWC members are welcome to attend this festive Holiday Open House. If you find yourself in Washington DC, this is a lovely opportunity to visit the GFWC and meet other community-minded women from across the country and around the world. With 60,000 members in affiliated clubs in every state and more than a dozen countries. GFWC members work in their own communities to support the arts, preserve natural resources, advance education, promote healthy lifestyles, and encourage civic involvement, in particular, issues related to domestic and sexual violence awareness/prevention, and advocating for children. The GFWC is an international women’s organization dedicated to community improvement by enhancing the lives of others through volunteer service. The BHWC first federated with the GFWC 100 years ago, in 1924!
