SUMMARY:Thursday Afternoon Garden Tai Chi with Gina Bari
DESCRIPTION:Complimentary for BHWC Members. This Tai Chi class with Gina Bari is absolutely fantastic! Embrace this opportunity to explore the magic of Tai Chi in BHWC’s perfect\, private beautiful garden setting. \nYour mental and physical flexibility will be enhanced! A wonderful gift to give yourself! \nComfortable clothing and sneakers is all you need! \nTai Chi\, a traditional\, slow-moving form of Chinese martial art\, is known to increase flexibility and improve balance.  Gina Bari has taught Tai Chi for many years on behalf of the Jewish Family Institute of Los Angeles\, Swezy Institute\, the City of Santa Monica as well as the Parkinson’s and Diabetes foundations through Cedars-Sinai and St. John’s Health Center. \nAs reported by NPR\, now new research suggests it’s better than more vigorous aerobic exercises for lowering blood pressure in people with prehypertension.  Prehypertension is blood pressure that’s higher than normal but doesn’t quite reach the level of high blood pressure\, or hypertension. It’s considered a warning sign that heart disease may be ahead\, and it raises the risk of having a heart attack. \nThe new findings\, published in the journal JAMA Network Open\, add to a large body of research pointing to health benefits from tai chi\, a wellness practice that combines slow\, gentle movements and postures with mindfulness. It’s often called meditation in motion.

SUMMARY:4th Annual Beverly Hills Run of the Stars 5k
DESCRIPTION:For a second year\, BHWC is a proud sponsor of this event that supports Not Today Cancer and their mission to find a cure for devastating childhood cancers. Despite childhood cancer rates being on the rise\, a desperately small amount of US Federal Funding for Cancer Research goes to children. Get out your running shoes and run (or walk) this annual 5k run (3.1 miles). This year\, the run begins at the newly opened El Rodeo Elementary and tours the surrounding iconic and charming streets of Beverly Hills.  There are plenty of ways to Run with the Stars – participate as a racer\, walk with friends\, do a “5k from Anywhere” or join us at BHWC’s booth.
